The Office of Agricultural Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, Tokyo is seeking for an experienced consultant to organize Study Project on Development of Special Food Products from Thailand for the Aging Japanese” Details as follows:

Purpose
The purpose of Study Project on Development of Special Food Products from Thailand for the Aging Japanese” is as follows:
-    To conduct survey and study on current products trend, production technology, demands, preferences and market of special food products for the aging Japanese
-    To study related Rules, Regulation Laws and Standards of aging products and related products
-    To  enhance cooperation between producers/ manufactures in Thailand and traders/ importer/ wholesalers/ retailers/ distributors in Japan
-    To study and recommend potential strategies and development for special food products from Thailand export to Japan

Term of Reference (TOR):
1.      Survey and Study on the current products trend, production technology, manufacturers, product criteria, market demands and preferences
a.    Listing of food products for the aged available in market and the manufacturers and identify successful food products
b.    Collate information on technology involved in product development
c.    Provide information on size of market, market trend, market demand on products quality and safety
d.    Recommend contacts at Japanese universities, research institutes, senior care facilities of both government and private companies
2.       Study related regulations on product quality and safety, labeling etc. of products and production of food for the aged population
3.    Provide recommendations, information on product development, and strategies for the development of products from Thailand
a.    Identify types of products suitable to be produced by Thailand
b.    Set up meetings between Office of Agricultural Affairs and Thai manufacturers with potential  Japanese manufacturers/researchers
c.    Recommend step by step strategies for co operations on product research and development
4.    Report the finding and strategies for development for Thai food industry and related government agencies on production, regulatory control and marketing
5.    Submit 2 progress report of 1-4  and full final report in English

Qualification required:
-    Experienced in Special Food Products for the Aging Japanese
-    Able to communicate in English and/ or Japanese.
-    Able to prepare report and give oral presentation in English.

Duration of Project: 7 months (30 September 2009 – 30 April 2010)
Budget: 3,705,228 Japanese Yen (Three Million Seven Hundred Five Thousand Two Hundred Twenty Eight Yen only)
Deadline of Application:    A consultant, who is interested in conducting the above-mentioned activities, please submit the proposal to the Office of Agricultural Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy within Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  The selected consultant will be announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.
